Ladies Day 2014
Wednesday, 23 July 2014
Once again, the sun was out for Ladies Day at Tipperary Racecourse. An overcast morning turned to a stunning afternoon of sunshine with fantastic fashion and racing on show.
Noel Meade was the star of the day completing a double, including the feature race of the day, the Live the Dream with Tote Galway Plate Trial as Westhaven scored under Adrian Heskin at odds of 10/1. Westhaven took the lead two out and stayed on under pressure to win by 4 lengths. Paul Nolan’s Big Generator was second with Shake The Bucket back in third. Noel Meade’s other winner of the day came in the first race as Rich Coast won the maiden hurdle at 11/4.
Willie Mullins’ Indevan was the impressive winner of the beginners chase. In the Ricci colors, the 6-year-old made all and won very easily winning by 3½ lengths when eased down after the last.
In the bumper, Aidan O’Brien’s Macbride won his third race on the trot in impressive fashion. Sent off 30/100F, Macbride was eased into the lead four out and cruised up the straight to win by 14 lengths.
Off the track, the stakes were just as high with a fantastic prize on offer and this was reflected in the turn out. Celebrity judge Roz Purcell had a tough job on her hands selecting the winner and any of the finalists would have been worthy winners. However there could only be one and our first prize went Grainne Vaughan from Clonmel. For her efforts, Grainne received the first prize of a €1000 package from Ballykisteen Hotel & Golf Resort including €500 cash, a VIP trip to Irish Champions Weekend at Leopardstown, tickets to Ladies Day at Galway Races, and a complimentary dress hire from The Ivory Closet, Limerick.
The action returns at Tipperary Racecourse for Fillies Friday Night Out & Barbecue Evening on August 8th.
