Tipperary’s Most Stylish Impress Judges

The sun shone on Tipperary Racecourse yesterday afternoon (Sunday 22nd July) as a collective crowd descended on the popular Limerick Junction track. A National Hunt card attracted a strong racing presence whilst the two fashion competitions on the day, theFASHIONshed.com and Ballykisteen Hotel Dressed Lady and Brendan Courtney’s ‘Who Wants to be a Milliner Competition’ saw fashionistas and Milliners from every corner of the country arrive for a fabulous day. Not forgetting the children who turned out in force to enjoy racing and lots of family fun activities including the Front Runner Racing Club for Kids.
The feature race of the day saw Rebel Fitz storm home to claim the Grade 3 Kevin McManus Bookmakers Grimes Hurdle under Davy Russell for the Cork based trainer Michael Winters, with the Eddie Harty trained Captain Cee Bee coming in close behind him by just 1 ½ lengths.
Action was hot on and off the track as hundreds of fashionable ladies added colour and style to the day. Clonmel native Fiona O'Shaughnessy was crowed the winner of the Ballykisteen Hotel and Golf Resort and theFASHIONshed.com Best Dressed Lady Competition following a unanimous decision by the judges, Irish Television Presenter Brendan Courtney, Laura Moore from Ballykisteen Hotel and Golf Resort and theFASHIONshed.com’s Paula Rabbitte and her team.
Brendan Courtney said; “I had an amazing day at Tipperary and thank you for the fabulous welcome; it was a great day out and great to see so much style. The standard here at Tipperary blew the other judges and myself away. We had a really difficult choice to make but we were delighted to announce Fiona as our winner, she was stunning in a classic outfit that was the perfect choice for a day at the races.”
As the winner of yesterday’s Best Dressed Lady competition, Fiona went home with €1,000 prize package from theFASHIONshed.com including a Fiona Mangan Hat, a €1,000 Ballykisteen Hotel & Golf Resort prize package including a two night bed & breakfast stay in Kinnitty Castle Hotel & a four course meal, a Serenity day spa luxury package for Ballykisteen Hotel & Golf Resort and Green fees for their 18 hole Championship golf course and a three month Family leisure membership.
Brendan Courtney also hosted a heat of the innovative hat design competition ‘Who Wants to be a Milliner’ at yesterday’s Summer Sunday meeting. . The winner of yesterday’s heat was milliner Jennifer Wrynne who is based in both Dublin and Limerick. Jennifer’s piece will go forward to the final at the RDS Dublin Horse Show on the 16th August where all the finalists will be judged by legendary milliner and designer Philip Tracy. The collection of the overall winner of the ‘Who Wants to be a Milliner’ Competition will go on sale in Arnotts.
In addition to the racing and fashion there was an array of fun and exciting children’s entertainment. All the activities were FREE and ran throughout the day including the Mobile Farm, Front Runner Racing Club for Kids, Bouncy Castles, inflatable obstacle courses, garden games, rodeo bull and much more.
