Tipperary Unveils €400,000 Racecourse Re-Development Project
Friday, 12 April 2013
Tipperary Racecourse will open its gates for the first meeting of the 2013 season next Thursday 18th April, showcasing the results of the latest development work at the South-Tipperary venue.
The development includes a new entrance building, the relocation of the pre-saddling arena to in front of the Tipperary stand, improvements to the enclosure layout and the completion of the stable yard upgrade. This follows the construction of a 42-stall American style barn last year.
A new pathway has been installed to link the Limerick-end car park to the new entrance building, meaning customers can easily and safely access the entrance from both car parks.
The development will also include the installation of a children’s playground which will be located in the heart of the enclosure, close to the self-service restaurant.
Alterations have been made to the bookmakers’ ring which was part of the overall improvements to the surfacing and layout of the enclosure.
Commenting on the changes Jane Davis, Manager at Tipperary Racecourse said: “We look forward to welcoming racegoers to the ‘New Look’ Tipperary Racecourse this season. We have had a great team including architect Healy Partners and contractors Arkenvale Construction and we are right on target for next Thursday. We have already received great feedback from the local community who have been able to follow our progress step-by-step through our social media platforms.”
The project which saw €400,000 invested in the Racecourse’s facilities since January of this year was part funded by the Horse Racing Ireland Racecourse Development Fund.
