Plan your Race Day
Some tips to make your day more enjoyable
- Arrive in plenty of time, generally aim for an hour before the first race.
- Be sure to bring some cash, an ATM facility is not always available on site at the track.
- Don’t forget your tickets!
- Make sure to pick up a Racecard once you get into the Racecourse.
- In Ireland there is no dress code so we just recommend smart casual. However, we recommend to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes!
When you get here
If this is going to be your first racecourse experience make sure you take in everything that you possibly can. Take a walk around the enclosure, looking at the track and parade ring and enjoying our bars and restaurants. Pick up a racecard (a detailed guide to the day’s action) just inside the main turnstiles when you arrive. For your first race head down to the parade ring for a look at the owners, trainers and jockeys in the ring while the horses walk around the ring. Then if you fancy a flutter stroll around the bookies and take your chance or you can bet with the Tote. Get a nice position and enjoy the race! There are plenty of food options to choose from from casual self service to reserved tables in our restaurant. We always have different menu options available so if you are considering dining at the Racecourse why not ring us in advance.
Racing
There are usually 7 races on the day, taking place in half hour intervals. The race result is not official until you have heard the announcement ‘Winner all right’. Winning bets can then be redeemed any time during the day. The horses return to the parade ring where the winning connections usually receive a prize and some photos are taken, which is worth watching.
If you are unsure of anything make sure to call into the office - our staff are always only too happy to help answer your queries.
