What better way to spend a summer’s evening than here with us at Tipperary Racecourse. Join us for our second flat fixture of 2023 which is sure to be an exciting seven race card.
In 2022 the last race on the card, The Thank You To The Frontline Workers Maiden was won by the Johnny Murtagh trained Shajak who beat My Mate Mozzie into second place. Shajak went on from winning his maiden here at Tipperary to finish 3rd in the Listed Jockey Club Of Turkey Vinnie Roe Stakes at Leopardstown. The Gavin Cromwell trained My Mate Mozzie is a very admirable dual purpose horse who went on to finish 3rd in a Grade B Handicap Hurdle at the Listowel Harvest Festival in September before being just beaten into 2nd in the Colm White Bookmaker November Handicap in Naas.
At this meeting last year the TipperaryRacecourse.ie Handicap was won by Chocquinto trained by Hilary McLoughlin and ridden to victory by Andrew Slattery who beat Moss Tucker into 2nd place. Following on from finishing 2nd on this card last year Moss Tucker went on to win 3 races in 2022 including back here at Tipperary on the 29th of June before topping off a great season when landing the Listed Hatstone Waterford Testimonial Stakes at The Curragh in October.
Other future winners from this card in 2022 included Gobi Star trained by Eddie Lynam who ran in the @Tipperaryraces Maiden here before winning his maiden in Down Royal in September and then following that up in the Christmas Party Nights Claiming Race at Dundalk in November.
